Wildlife
So much to see
Idube Game Reserve is home to the Big Fiveโlion, leopard, rhino, elephant and buffalo, with thrilling leopard sightings often being the highlight of our visitorโs stays.
Elephants have been known to drink from the suite swimming pools in thirsty weather. The lodgeโs welcoming committeeโa family of graceful nyalaโalways fascinate our guests, and we often have warthogs wandering through the gardens too. Monkeys congregate frequently on the lodgeโs outskirts, and other species can be seen drinking at Shudulu Dam from the hide.
An extensive array of wildlife can seen throughout Idube’s traversable area and these include giraffe, impalas, zebras, wildebeest, hyaenas and jackals, to name but a few. Both crocodiles and hippos move long distances to find new dams or to move to a river, so itโs always a nice surprise when they are spotted. We also have numerous bird species, many of which can be viewed from your suites.
The sheer biodiversity of the reserve is astounding.
