Idube Going Solar!

Like our sister lodge, Lukimbi Safari Lodge, Idube Game Reserve plans on embarking on a major project to get off the electricity grid as much as possible. An obvious way for us to do that is to look to solar power in our beautiful, sunny climate. We are extremely aware, not only of the electricity crisis in South Africa, but also of the need to be greener and cut down on fossil-fuel usage.

Currently, we are reliant on generators or government-supplied electricity made using coal, and our environmental focus is pushing us forward to produce our own solar power. After all, Idube is blessed with bright beautiful sunshine most of the year, and there are many more ways to enjoy it other than just lounging by the pool with a cocktail! (Although that’s never a bad idea either.)
